Dagon

- In the film "Dagon" the plot includes mythical sea creatures such as a mermaid. I enjoy how in this film, unlike many other films and media including mermaids in mainstream culture they have a more vulgar and monstrous view of a mermaid. The mermaid in this film resembling more traits of a siren from mythology. This is a similar perception of a sea-humanoid that I would like to resemble in my photographs. I want my photos to perceive a certain beauty in this form while also things that are uncomfortable.

- I enjoy the pale makeup which accentuates certain features of the actresses's face. Headpieces such as this are also a common theme in movies including sea-human hybrid creatures. It would be interesting if I could find something similar to use in my photoshoot.

- Another example in the film similar of how I would like to stage my photoshoot. I want there to be liquid on my model which is unclear to the viewer of the photo what it is. I'd like it to look like some type of ocean creature fluid/ink or something to that extent.

- This is an example in the film of the mermaid transforming from something that stereotypically would be considered a majestic and beautiful creature to the true form of that mythology where a mermaid is a predator and monster. I like how this human-sea creature hybrid can be perceived in two different ways.
